Playing the Game of Change: Creating Conditions to Thrive offers a complex adaptive systems perspective on change. This framework is based on findings from contemporary sciences which suggest that human affairs are subject to the same principles that govern living systems. The Game of Change applies these principles to determine how best to navigate the three phases of change — Emergence, Metastability, and Transcendence — which can be likened to the cycle of birth, growth, and death/transformation. By discerning the principles operating behind the events and the details, one can make sense of ambiguous situations and thus, know what conditions to create to achieve greater congruence between intentions and outcomes.

Beyond the edge of what is true, reasonable or possible awaits discernment of the paradoxes — seeming absurdities emerging from the interplay of opposites — that characterize predicaments.
Paradoxing is a thinking tool to help develop individual and collective capacity to work with the tensions and paradoxes of human affairs.
